PLAYERS:
Player A - Receiver of gift of play; activity profile is based on this player’s profile; there can be more than one Player A
Player B - Giver of gift of play; play partner for Player A
Anyone who wants to build a stronger relationship can be a play partner to your child. Some examples are:
Siblings
Cousins
Combined family members
Other adults (parents, stepparents, grandparents, foster parents, extended family, etc.)
To make this meaningful for your family, identify which person/persons should be Player A and Player B based on the focus of who will be building or enriching a relationship with the child playing.
HOW TO PLAY TOGETHER TOKENS:
Step 1: Take our quiz to find Player A’s profile. Your child’s profile is their favorite area or type of play
Step 2: Player B gives Player A set of tokens (40 total), 12 tokens in profile, 4 each other profile
Step 3: Player A turns in a token each day for awesome play in the profile, 15-30 minutes each token.
Step 4: Once 10 tokens are played, a Special Moments token may be turned in for an extra awesome activity (4 Special Moments total)
Step 5: Once Player B plays the Special Moment with Player A … then Player B flips that Special to a parent for a Special of their own!
Each bag is worth up to 20 hours of play. If Player B declines to play a token (limited to once per day) then Player B must return a token to Player A or they can agree to a time they can play that works for both players. This game is truly the gift of play from an older brother or sister to a younger sibling. Each set will come with a list of creative activities in each profile. When a bag is used, start the game again or pass on the game to a friend or family member. What’s your play?
Tokens are 1.8” diameter, double sided, laser engraved with a natural oil finish. Each set comes with two denim storage pouches. Artwork is unique.
Player B may also be parent, grandparent or caregiver.
Not sure which profile? No problem. Select our Explorer option for an evenly weighted set of 5 tokens from each profile to total 40 tokens plus 4 Special Moments tokens.
The magic in Together Tokens is in the moments that they create. It is an easy way for a younger child to say that they would like to share valuable play time. It is also a great way to diversify play in areas that may not be top of mind. Start with small moments, 10 minutes per token activity. Build up to 30 minutes per token activity. Your child will most likely fly through their 12 preferred activity tokens. The remaining profiles will have 4 tokens each. They will have to choose what’s next. Trying something new is a difficult skill. However, with each 10 tokens played, the special token will provide incentive to keep going. Special token moments should be high value, yet simple. A movie night, special ice cream, extra video game time … these are about what motivates your child. When the bag is complete and all tokens have been cashed (this will take longer than you may think), then reset the game. You will notice over time, the tokens will fade in the background, and the game is no longer necessary to spark playtime. Everyone needs a little help. Siblings in particular may need a motivator. We’ve designed this game with younger kids in mind. Screen time has its place, however there is something elegant about simple moments.
